Where we celebrated our 6-month anniversary and accidentally crowned our favorite date-night spot. Think small, shareable plates, excellent cocktails, and an ambiance that makes you feel fancy on a Tuesday.
Our go-to for a quick, delicious post-work meal. Authentic, local, and so good. Order the birria tacos and margaritas - trust us, we have strong opinions here.
A weekly staple in the Corley/Hersperger household. Cheap, open 24/7, and beloved by Aggies everywhere. We’re obsessed with the creative taco combos—Scott’s favorite includes Cheetos (yes, really).
Our first date spot 🥹 A Texas classic. While it’s not exclusive to Bryan-College Station, you simply cannot leave Texas without chips, queso, and that jalapeño ranch.
A local classic and one of our favorite go-to spots. With two locations and house-made everything, it’s (in our completely unbiased opinion) the best pizza in town.
A newer addition to Downtown Bryan and Alex’s unofficial dissertation headquarters. An everything bagel with egg and cheese = peak academic productivity (or at least that’s what we tell ourselves).
The OG Indian restaurant in College Station and a regular in our rotation. Order the Gobi Manchurian—and don’t miss their famously great water (we’re still not sure why, but it’s excellent).
Connected to Sunbeam Bagels, The Owl has become one of our favorite places to grab a drink with friends. If Taylor is on duty, do yourself a favor and order the Espresso Martini (and tip him well!).
Recently relocated, KinderHill is a microbrewery serving great cocktails and even better Detroit-style pizza. With mostly outdoor seating, it’s one of our favorites on a nice day — especially when the dogs can tag along. Sundays feature Musical Bingo and surprisingly good prizes.
A Downtown Bryan brewery that makes everything in-house. They often have live music on Friday and Saturday nights, and their Hazy IPA (Hazy Lady) is a must-try.
Scott’s favorite cocktail spot in Bryan, known for made-to-order drinks with creative twists. They also offer whiskey and vodka tastings—something we’ve heard great things about and absolutely plan to try someday.
Located about 15 minutes from Downtown Bryan, Messina Hof is a beloved Aggieland winery. They offer a great selection of Texas wines and tasting flights that make choosing a favorite difficult.
Here are some of our local recommendations
If you’ve never seen the campus, it’s worth a walk around. We recommend parking in the University Center Garage and heading toward the Academic Building—you’ll pass plenty of iconic Aggie landmarks along the way, including Kyle Field, the Memorial Student Center, and the Century Tree. You might even stroll past where Alex works every day in the Student Services Building. Be sure to swing by Aggie Park behind the garage as well!
A peaceful nature preserve in South College Station and a favorite spot for Scott and Alex to take the dogs. With multiple trail options, it’s perfect for a long walk and some fresh air away.
Located on the west side of Texas A&M’s campus, this museum highlights the life and presidency of the 41st U.S. President. A standout feature is the fully restored Union Pacific train locomotive.
A true College Station staple during the winter months. It’s big, festive, and very Texas, with lights, hayrides, ice tubing, and Santa’s Workshop. Scott and Alex went early in their relationship and… learned the importance of timing. If you love Christmas, go later in the evening or on a weekday for a smoother experience.
Just across the street from campus, Century Square offers a cluster of shops, restaurants, and bars that are easy to explore on foot—great for grabbing a bite or drink!
Famous for being the nightlife of college students, Northgate has multiple bars right next to each other with cheap drinks and cheap food. While Scott and Alex prefer Downtown Bryan over Northgate, it’s a classic College Station staple if you’ve never been before. The Dixie Chicken is the iconic Aggie bar, known for its live rattlesnake and domino tables!
A newer park (still growing!) with about a 1.25-mile loop that’s great for walking or running. Scott and Alex often bring the dogs here and use it for longer runs. It also houses Top Golf if you’re looking for a fun afternoon activity!
If our favorite restaurant and bar lists didn’t give it away, Downtown Bryan is where we spend a lot of our time. During the day, it’s full of local shops and small businesses; at night, it offers great dining and a more laid-back, adult-friendly bar scene (which is important in a college town!).
